Village Transformed by Scientology Tools

A family and their friends in Wanga Parish, Uganda, are using Scientology tools to create a self-sustaining and empowered community.

VILLAGE TRANSFORMED BY SCIENTOLOGY TOOLS
Martin Wamatsu became a Volunteer Minister and dedicated himself to the creation of a self-sustaining community in Wanga Parish, Uganda.

Martin Wamatsu is a teacher with big dreams. His first was to create a self-sustaining community in his birth village in Wanga Parish, Uganda.

Martin, his brother, two sisters and his son trained on all 19 Scientology Tools for Life online courses, becoming fully trained Volunteer Ministers.

“Since completing the 19 courses,” says Martin, “my life never remained the same. It changed for the better in many ways:

“The courses perfected my communication skills. I started applying the Study Technology as a teacher. It polished my skills with children.

“I am better equipped to identify and deal with suppressive people. I am now improving my environment to make it better. And I improved my love and relationship in my marriage and family as a whole.”

Armed with this Technology, the family set out to build not just a self-sustaining community, but one whose citizens were trained in, and thus fully empowered with, Scientology Technology.

But first, they had to tackle basic survival. When they started, there were failing crops, no clean water, insufficient schools, widespread illiteracy and many orphaned and malnourished children. Martin and his team were starting at square zero.

But soon, 70 orphans from the parish were given shelter, food and care, and the VMs used Scientology education techniques to teach farming. This led to the first successful harvests, which included rice, corn, sweet potatoes, beans, peanuts and greens. They then acquired chickens and pigs, providing food and trade.

In less than nine months, Wanga Parish had sufficient food.

During this same period, the VMs started a nursery school in a village church, made bricks for yet another school, opened a medical clinic and brought a licensed nurse on board.

“After completing the 19 courses and experiencing their value, I felt everyone should be given a chance to do these courses,” says Martin.

Ensuring orphans first learned Study Technology as their foundation, the teachers taught them the rest of the 19 courses alongside general academics. The orphans were eager to learn and, by the end of the year, were graduating classes, advancing in grade levels and looking toward a bright future. Other village children joined, thus enabling any child to become fully empowered.

“After completing the 19 courses and experiencing their value, I felt everyone should be given a chance to do these courses.”

Having finally achieved their goal of making their own community self-sustaining and empowered, the team set out to do the same for all surrounding parishes. To this end, they installed 26 clean-water taps in neighboring villages and taught the villagers how to boil their water, plant their crops and care for their seeds. They trained 50 more teachers in Study Technology and the rest of the vital tools of The Scientology Handbook.

And so it continued, with an ever-expanding army of villagers, teachers and leaders training as Scientology Volunteer Ministers—thus empowering each village to overcome its own life challenges toward achieving self-sustaining communities.

What started in Wanga Parish—with villagers training on the online courses using just four cellphones—has grown at a fantastic rate. By the end of the second year, 1,500 VMs had been trained and the five neighboring parishes were on their own mission to follow the successful path of Wanga Parish.

Using the 19 courses, the VMs have transformed hundreds of lives in Wanga Parish and set thousands more on the path to inevitable success and prosperity.
