BRINGING DISASTER PREPAREDNESS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO
Scientology Volunteer Ministers and Albuquerque Office of Emergency Management join forces to open the VM Cavalcade.
The exuberant strains of El Mariachi Nuevo Mexico band and the drama of flamenco dancing signaled the opening of the Volunteer Minister Cavalcade at the University of New Mexico. Mr. Fred Hogan, Emergency Planning Officer at the Albuquerque Office of Emergency Management, cut the exhibit’s ribbon and invited students inside to learn basic skills that could save their lives in the event of a disaster.
“The Office of Emergency Management strives to build bridges and strengthen relationships between emergency managers and faith-based organizations, community leaders and stakeholders,” Hogan said. “These vital partnerships within our community allow the city of Albuquerque to maximize resources available to citizens after a major [disaster] event.”

Inside the bright yellow VM pavilion, students and campus visitors toured the exhibit panels that described these and other tools for life developed by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard. The 19 individual booklets with the solutions to 19 different life challenges were all available to the visitors. There was also an array of information on disaster preparedness provided by the Albuquerque Office of Emergency Management.
