SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTER NEWS

Helping Where Help Is Most Needed

Rapid Response in the Face of Disaster is a Hallmark of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers

No strangers to disasters of any kind, Scientology Volunteer Ministers have, for more than a quarter century, crossed national, racial, political and religious boundaries in over 150 countries to help people deal successfully with the upheavals of existence and to restore order, dignity and happiness to their lives.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers know how to help in times of crisis—be it in the form of personal, family, career, job, business, governmental or natural catastrophe. They are equipped with specialized knowledge and a wide range of skills that can alleviate and resolve many of the major sources of travail.

These volunteers are graduates of Volunteer Minister training offered at Scientology churches and missions everywhere. Many have also received additional training in first aid and “first response” disaster relief procedures, and these members form the core of the Scientology Disaster Response (SDR) teams working on the front lines.

Over the past two decades the Scientology Volunteer Ministers were there to help at the:

  • Earthquake in San Francisco, 1989
  • Riots in Los Angeles, 1992
  • Floods in Italy, 1994
  • Earthquake in Kobe, Japan, 1995

Internationally, each year Volunteer Ministers devote more than 1 million hours of volunteer service to their communities, helping people and teaching them the skills they need to overcome life’s barriers.

The International Scientology Volunteer Minister hotline receives over 100 calls a day from caring people wanting to donate or to help relief efforts around the world. More than 1,000 Scientology Volunteer Ministers have tended to survivors at disaster sites this year, but no matter where they are or whatever the circumstances, much more help is needed.
