A man who had been in coma for over 30 days is revived due to the work of a Scientology Volunteer Minister who was thousands of miles away! Here’s that Volunteer Minister’s story:
“As part of a business transaction I was involved in, I had to contact a lady who worked with many film producers and production companies including Disney, Sesame Street and others. I was told she was staying in a hotel in Arizona. She was at the hotel because it was across from a hospital where her father was staying. He had been in a coma for over 30 days.
“Even before talking to her (Sheelah), I had decided that I was going to do something about her father despite being on the other side of the country. Sheelah was sitting in her hotel room waiting for my call. I introduced myself and we talked and wrapped up the business end of the deal. Then I told her I had heard of her ordeal with her father. I questioned her about his condition and circumstances that lead up to his hospitalization.
“She explained that he had collapsed due to an aneurysm in his leg while playing golf with her. He was rushed to the nearest hospital. Instead of the expected hour to two-hour surgical procedure, he was under the knife for over 11 hours. Everything the doctors did seemed to be wrong. He went into a coma, complete with tubes everywhere and had been like that for a month. At one point the doctors were looking at amputating both his legs as a solution! He was moved to a much larger facility and there he lay complete with life support.
“Hanging on by sheer hope alone, Sheelah and her mother kept a 24 hour vigil, never leaving his side but rather cat-napping in a chair in his room. They helped the nurses and doctors in an attempt to change his condition but at this point they had all but given up on him recovering.
“I told her that I was a Volunteer Minister and I was going to help her with her father. I told her to get a pad of paper and a pen to write with. I had her write down verbatim the material I read to her from the assists chapter of The Scientology Handbook. I explained to her that I was going to teach her how to do the assist so she could perform it on her father. After two hours of learning how to deliver the assist by phone she said she was ready and excitedly went to the hospital to help her father.
“At about 2pm in the afternoon I received a call from Sheelah and in an amazed, excited voice she said, ‘My father is out of his coma and not only out of the coma, but able to talk—to everyone!’ Going at a mile-a-minute she told me, ‘He was able to open his eyes after only two minutes of the assist! He looked around as soon as he came to and found me looking at him in amazement. Looking me right in the eyes he said, “Sheelah, I love you.” And I almost passed out on the spot.’
“She just could not believe what had happened and was crying tears of joy as she told me the story, thanking me for Scientology—whatever it is—because it worked.
“Shortly after her father came out of the coma his best friend, who had been visiting daily out of loyalty, walked into the room. At once her father recognized him and yelled out, ‘Don! How the hell are you?’
“A nurse came running into the room at the sound of all the commotion and concerned because of the noise. He looked at her and said, ‘Who the hell are you?’ This was significant as the neurologists were saying that there was most likely brain damage due to the 11 hour surgery. No, quite the contrary! He was recognizing those of us he knew and was not recognizing those he didn’t—like the nurse.
“The neurologist came in after getting the report that he had recovered from his coma and in an overly loud voice asked him if he knew where he was. His answer to the neurologist was, ‘I know where I am and I am not deaf either.’
“Now all Sheelah wants to know about is Scientology. I congratulated her on giving a perfect assist. Sheelah’s father is doing great and so is she!”
