February 1, 2005: Switzerland - The Sikh Temple, coordinated with the Church of Scientology Zurich and held a service in memory of the victims of the Asian tsunami. After Attendees had paid their respects, they were told of relief work being done by the Volunteer Ministers and how religions need to work together.

January 30, 2005: New York — Scientologists provided and handed out toys and gifts for the Underprivileged Ecuadorian children in Queens for the Three Kings Day celebration, sponsored by the Queens Federation of Churches and St. Peter and St. Paul�s Lutheran Church.


January 27, 2005: Los Angeles: Following the train collision early yesterday morning in Glendale that saw over 100 people hurt and many more severely affected, Scientology Volunteer Ministers joined the ranks of organizations who rushed to the scene to assist.

January 26, 2005: Volunteer Ministers (VMs) in the disaster areas have now trained 4,503 people to give assists. News of the effectiveness of these simple techniques has spread broadly, with people coming from miles around to receive them.

January 21, 2005: While media attention dies down and some groups pull out, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers in Southeast Asia continue flat out with relief efforts, with 192 more VMs on their way. There are still so many devastated areas in need. Your help can be used.

January 20, 2005: A team of Scientology Volunteer Ministers from South Africa has arrived in Madagascar. The island has received less attention than other areas struck by the tsunami and the Volunteer Ministers are now working with local officials on relief efforts.

January 19, 2005: Following reports of human rights violations affecting children orphaned by the tsunami, the Int’l Foundation for Human Rights and Tolerance, supported by the Church of Scientology International, today sent a 6-man “Human Rights Relief Team” to Sri Lanka.

January 18, 2005: Sri Lanka: A hundred large tents have arrived in Galle and have been set up to house homeless citizens while their homes are rebuilt. Through the efforts of local Volunteer Ministers, the tents were donated by the City of Torino, Italy.


January 17, 2005: India: A team of British Volunteer Ministers has just arrived to join the Scottish and Indian teams helping with disaster relief effort 200 kilometers beyond Cuddalore in Nagapattinam, India.

January 15, 2005: Banda Aceh, Indonesia: Volunteers on the ground report every town on the west coast hit by the tsunami looks like it was hit by an atomic bomb — completely flattened. An estimated 600,000 people still need aid — the work continues. Volunteers are still needed.

January 14, 2005: Southern Asia: Volunteer Ministers of the Churches of Scientology are training relief workers in the procedure of “assists”, a form of “spiritual first-aid.” Some Buddhists and Muslims are now using the techniques, which help people to recover from trauma caused by the tsunami.

January 13, 2005: Due to exploitation of children orphaned by the disaster, the Church of Scientology International and a human rights organization is sending a relief team to SE Asia specifically to help the youngest survivors of the tsunami and will take action to protect these children's rights.





January 12, 2005: Indonesia — To cope with the thousands and thousands of people needing assistance, relief workers and religious clerics are being trained by Scientology Volunteer Ministers on how to assist the traumatized.





January 11, 2005: Thailand — As part of their continuing relief efforts, Scientology Volunteer Ministers are working with the military to deliver truckloads of vitally needed food and supplies to people living in remote villages affected by the disaster.

January 10, 2005: Sri Lanka — More Scientology Volunteer Ministers (VMs) arrived in Galle, Sri Lanka and are now assisting medical staff in the local hospitals as well as working on the ground helping disaster victims.


January 9, 2005: Sri Lanka — Volunteer Ministers (VMs) newly on the scene in Galli, Sri Lanka report 90% of the city destroyed and very few relief workers at the site. The job is huge and more VMs are needed, call 1-800-435-7498.





January 8, 2005: India — Scientology Volunteer Ministers (VMs) based in Channai sent 50 VMs to the hardest-hit villages in the south: Mahabulipuram, Cuddalore, Karaikkal and Nagaipatiam.


January 8, 2005: Thailand — Teams of Volunteer Ministers are helping organize body identification, delivering needed supplies and giving spiritual aid to the traumatized victims. More help is needed!

January 7, 2005: Yesterday the German/Italian Scientology Volunteer Minister team arrived and set up in Sri Lanka. Today their team is heading to the south of Sri Lanka between Galle and Matara to set up disaster relief operations there.


January 6, 2005: South-East Asia — Scientology Volunteer Ministers on the ground provide assists to injured and traumatized people in hospitals and refugee camps. January 5, 2005: Over 200 Scientology Volunteer Ministers are actively helping in disaster locations and a team, having received permission, is now en route to the ground zero of the disaster at Aceh in Indonesia.

January 4, 2005: Medan, Indonesia — After observing the help the Scientology Volunteer Ministers (VMs) are giving, local authorities asked them to man a new Trauma Center being set up in Banda Aceh to help cope with the volume of refugees the disaster left in shock and despair.


January 4, 2005: India — Scientology Volunteer Ministers from South Africa, including a doctor and nurse have arrived, with supplies. A second team from South Africa and a third team from Tanzania, with 2 doctors and 2 nurses fly out later this week.

January 3, 2005: Asian Disaster Relief, Volunteer Ministers Update


January 3, 2005: Madan, Indonesia — English, Chinese and Malaysian bi-lingual Scientology Volunteer Ministers are assisting medical teams in hospitals to provide succor to victims suffering from injuries and the trauma of lost loved ones, bringing them relief and hope for the future.


January 1, 2005: In Africa, local Scientologists in Durban and Johannesburg are active in the relief effort, collecting donations and over 70 bags of clothing. Working with “Net Care,” they are getting the clothes delivered to severely affected areas in South-East Asia.


January 1, 2005: Mysore, India — With the blessing of His Holiness, Buddhist monks are now enroute to Chennai, India with a team of Scientology Volunteer Ministers. They are bringing medical supplies, equipment and spiritual aid to those in need.


December 31, 2004: Made possible by public support, Volunteer Minister teams from Australia and Taiwan have now arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia; Phuket, Thailand and Colomo, Sri Lanka assisting in the disaster areas.


December 30, 2004: Australian, Taiwanese, Italian, German, Hungarian, Swedish, African and American Scientology Volunteer Ministers are enroute to the areas hardest hit by the devastation to aid and comfort the people.


December 26, 2004: Scientology Volunteer Ministers from around the world are being sent to Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka to assist with relief efforts following today’s tsunamis.
