August 19, 2005: PONDICHERRY, INDIA — Scientology Volunteer Ministers were thanked this week for all the help they have given to local residents since the tsunami last winter. Their main objective was to get the villagers over their trauma so they could get back to a normal life. And through their work they have done so much to accomplish this. In fact over 20,000 people from the area have been trained to be able to use Scientology assists.

August 17, 2005: FLORIDA — There is a common thread connecting Scientologists — they know that they can improve the quality of life. Scientology Volunteer Ministers took vacations from work to help victims of last year’s tsunami in Asia. They raised money, built houses and gave spiritual comfort to tens of thousands of people.

Last year in Florida, hundreds of Scientology Volunteer Ministers spent over 20,000 hours handing out food, water and ice to hurricane victims. They worked alongside the Red Cross, Salvation Army and church volunteers for weeks.

Recently, the Community Learning Center of Pinellas County was awarded a $50,000 grant under the Family Literacy Initiative, which will enable the center to expand its services. Volunteers at these learning centers continue to help both youngsters and adults to improve their learning ability.

August 16, 2005: BOTSWANA — “The Communication course by Scientology Volunteer Ministers was an eye opener for me. I learned that communication is a vital aspect of everyday life and it has its ups and downs, but the only way one can have good understanding with people is using the tools of communication. If everyone did that, it would bring better living to all. Thank you to the Scientology Volunteer Ministers for bringing this course to Botswana.” — Mr. Mubata

August 14, 2005: BOSTON — “Dorchester Scientology, Something Can Be Done About It”

“For the past 12 months, the Dorchester ministry has tutored local children and adults with free reading programs, and held anti-violence discussions with community leaders and residents. And it has garnered some positive reviews — including one from its landlord there.

“Joe Onujiogu, who rents space to the ministry said: ‘They have done a tremendous job for the community. Children have improved in their learning and in their school work’.” — The Boston Globe

August 11, 2005: BOTSWANA — Success Story From the Scientology Volunteer Ministers’ Goodwill Tour in Botswana:

“Visiting the yellow tent has really helped me a lot. I have learned that there is something I can do to turn myself into a better person than I am now. I have always known that I needed to straighten out a number of things in my life, but I could not put my finger on exactly what I needed to do. But after meeting the Volunteer Ministers, talking with them and seeing some of the booklets, I now know exactly what it is. I have figured out that I need to set my goals straight and get myself better organized so I can achieve those goals. I am becoming better at this since being on the Targets and Goals course with the Scientology Volunteer Ministers.” — M.M.

August 10, 2005: BOTSWANA — Success Story From the Scientology Volunteer Ministers’ Goodwill Tour in Botswana:

“The more I do Scientology courses the more I want to do even more. I have learned so much from the Communication course. For example, how to get one specific communication across to a listener so it is understood, then to make sure that someone acknowledges my communication — this was a big problem for me and an irritation as I have had a very bad stammer. My stammer has been nearly all handled with this course.

“I thank the supervisor and the Volunteer Ministers for bringing this course to me. I am looking forward to the Scientology branch that is going to open in Botswana soon.” — J.S.

Many people were in shock, so he started calming them down using Scientology assists. After this they decided to brave the situation rather than remain trapped and managed to successfully escape from the waterlogged train. The VM didn’t return home at this point, he stayed in the area for the next 3 days helping in the rescue and relief operations. He set about training other volunteers, teaching them how to do Scientology assists and also helping administer first aid.
