ASSISTS SAVE LIVES My father came down with meningitis 2 weeks ago (an infection which went to his brain). He was supposed to die. He had 2 hours to live and the doctors told us it was very grave. I gave him the unconscious person assist immediately. The nurses and doctors didn’t stop me even though he was in intensive care and in a deep coma. For the next couple of days I came back and gave him touch assists. He got dramatically better. The doctors were surprised at his progress. I gave him more assists. The doctors didn’t think his short term memory would improve, but it did. The physical therapists were very impressed with him, as he could walk and talk again. Not long after this he left the hospital. My father knows that the assists saved his life. Sarah
One of my business associates came in one day and I asked her how her weekend was. She said it was terrible because her mother-in-law had a heart problem and was in a coma paralyzed. I took her immediately to the bookstore and bought her an assist booklet so she could give her mother an assist. She was astonished at me telling her what she had to do immediately. She read the unconscious person assist and applied it. About 4 days later she said she couldn’t believe it, because her mother-in-law had moved her eye lid. I told her to continue. After a month, I saw her and she said she was in recuperation and that the doctors couldn’t understand because she was not supposed to have lived but 4 or 5 days! She recently left the hospital and that same day wanted to go to a restaurant and celebrate. She is walking and talking as usual!! These booklets are marvelous tools! Ayako
I had to travel to the city of Villahermosa, Mexico, because my mother was very ill. While being there my brother Victor called to find out how my mother was and he found out that she was in critical condition. He asked to get me on the phone and told me that he was going to send me a booklet about assists for me to study and do the assists to my mother. I got the booklet and started doing the assists. At the beginning my mother did not want to receive them, but I handled her to let me do them. She started feeling better everyday, she even started asking me by telling me: “So when are you going to give me the assists?”. I want you to know that my father and my brothers used to speak about my brother Victor as crazy for being, but when they saw the changes in my mother they changed their opinion. Further on my mother had a terrible crisis and we had to take her to the hospital with a profuse internal bleeding that required 5 blood transfusions, she was in a very critical condition, we were all getting ready for the worse. During the time she was in the hospital I continued giving her assists and she came out of the situation and she was sent home. One week later the doctor did some X-rays on her stomach, as that is where she had the problem, she had a gastrohepatic strangling. The next day we had the results of the X-rays and we went to see the doctor. He started looking at the X-rays and would not say anything, just moved his head back and forth. I got scared, I thought something was really bad, when he suddenly said: “I can not believe this, the X-rays results are as if she had never had any problem at all, even though when she got to the hospital she had gastrohepatic strangling!” He was really amazed. I did not know what to say, if to mention the fact of the assists or not, so I was quiet. When I went out I told my brother about it, that I had done some assists that my brother Victor had sent me in a booklet. I want to let you know that I did not know anything about how to help someone and that I only knew about this Assist booklet that was sent to me. It saved her life! Laurie
HELPING A NEW BORN BABY Larry’s wife had the baby 1 month early so it was only 4.2 lbs at birth. The doctors were telling Larry that the baby would have problems eating at first and it might take up to a month for the baby to bottle feed and they would have to leave her in the incubator and feed her intravenously throughout this time. Larry told the doctor that he would have his baby out of the hospital within 2 days eating just fine and gaining weight with the assists he had learned through the Scientology technology. The doctor was not convinced of this but said he could do what he wanted. Larry took the baby out of the incubator, introduced her to his mother and himself, and gave her a locational assist to let her know where she was. He then gave her a touch assist. He let her know that her job was to eat and gain weight so that they could go home together. He had her feeding from a bottle within hours. The first day she went from 4.2 lbs to 4.8 lbs. The doctor was shocked at this and told him to proceed. The doctor then told him of a baby boy in the same shape that had not eaten for 3 weeks. Larry said he could help that baby also and the doctor said he would check with the parents. Larry stayed up through the night feeding his baby girl and giving her assists and the baby gained more weight and was released with the mother the 2nd day. The doctor then told Larry that the parents of the baby boy wanted him to help their baby also. Larry held the baby boy and introduced him to the parents and told him who he was and that he wanted to help him. The baby smiled and the parents were quite surprised as they had had no reaction from him before. He then gave him a locational and touch assist. He explained to him that his job was to now eat and gain weight. He gave him the bottle to drink. He drank the whole bottle. This was the first food he had eaten in 3 weeks. The parents were overjoyed. The mother immediately learned how to do the assists and had him eating again. The baby boy is now out of the hospital. Larry has told the hospital that if they ever needed him again he would be happy to come and assist.
I was asked by a friend to give someone they knew an assist. Unfortunately, this particular gentleman had a stroke last year resulting in complete paralysis of his entire left side of the body. The Neurologists didn’t expect him to live due to the severity and damage done to the nervous system. Five months ago the assists started. At first, small jerks and muscle spasms turned on. As the days and weeks of assists continued, life started to return to his left side. Then a “buzzing” sensation happened every time an assist was given. His wife was thrilled. Since I was going to the hospital 3 times a week, I thought, hey why not give assists to his roommates too. Then I started to give assists to others in the hospital. One day last month, as I walked into the room, his wife and a friend told me ecstatically, “Jim took his first step in a walker today!” They stood there beaming and gave me an applause. I was overwhelmed by their sincere appreciation. And what’s the opinion of the Neurologists? “It’s a miracle!” On the way home in my car that night, a thought came to me. If a scientist invented a serum that cured a terrible disease and doctors over the planet administered the serum with the result of people recovering, who should get the acknowledgment? Well, yes, the doctors should be thanked, but who really deserves the applause? My hat’s off to a true scientist and humanitarian - L. Ron Hubbard!
A friend of mine had a terrible accident. He’s a farmer and had been feeding his sheep in the middle of a field using a machine that is drawn by a tractor. When this machine began to slow down, he tried to fix it and his arm became trapped by the 12 cm (4 inch) long steel knives. As the machine was turning slowly, he was able to prevent his body from being drawn into the blades by using his other arm to push against the machine. Incredible enough, he stayed like this for 4 hours - with 7 steel knives stuck in his arm and shoulders. His wife (worried at his absence) was the one who went out and found him. When I saw him at the hospital, he told me that the doctors had told him he would never regain normal usage of his arm. It was basically a totally motionless, useless piece of meat and bone with no sensation. During the first assist I gave him, for about 45 minutes, he always said he had no feeling in his arm. I came back the next morning to give him another assist and at the end of this second assist he could feel his arm for first time. The following morning, after an assist lasting 45 minutes, he had totally recovered the sensation in his arm! He was happy! To the amazement of the doctors, he got better very quickly and completely regained the full normal usage of his arm. Since then, I have continued to give assists, any time I can to my children, my wife, my employees and my friends when they are hospitalized. When one knows such a simply and effective technology (that helps people) it is almost a crime not to use it when the opportunity presents itself. E.P.T.
A girl named Linda works in our office as an office assistant. She is about 45 and I was shocked to hear a few weeks ago that she had been diagnosed with cancer in her spine. A large tumor on her lower spine. She was admitted to the Cancer Hospital in Melbourne and things didn’t look good. She had had a breast removed a few years ago. I phoned her in the hospital and said, “Linda, did you know that I was ordained Minister of the Church of Scientology?” She said no, she didn’t. I asked her if she would like me to visit her before her chemotherapy. She said, oh yes, please. I went to see her and simply covered the basics. The fact that she was not a body, she was a spiritual being. She was very relieved to hear this and was happy. I validated her for her positive attitude and belief she could overcome anything and explained some very basic data on what causes illness. I briefed her on keeping antagonistic people away from her. I left wishing her all the best. Linda returned to work after her chemotherapy 3 weeks ago. I saw her in the kitchen. I asked her how she was. She was wearing a wig but looked bright. I then told her about assists. I said would she like one and she said yes, please. I gave her a touch assist and she realized that she could beat this disease. Then we did an assist on her lower spine. Each day for 3 weeks I gave her several kinds of assists. She was getting very bright as the days went by, she said she was feeling much better. I gave her the assists booklet to read and she studied it all. Yesterday she came to see me. She hugged me and said thank you SO much for all you have done. I got my test results today. The doctors can’t believe it. Three tumors on my liver have completely disappeared, the tumor on my spine has shrunk. Also, a hole that had appeared in my spine has closed over and that is really amazing, they can’t believe it.
VOLUNTEER MINISTER IN ACTION I was eating in a restaurant sitting near a young mother with her three small children. One of the little ones was being cranky, out of control screaming and throwing things. He ended up hiding under the table to escape his mom. The entire restaurant was upset. As a Volunteer Minister I went to the mother, presented my card and asked to help her child. While I told this to the mom, I reached under the table and the child took my hand. I did a brief assist with the child, producing a calmness and restored affinity among the family. The other patrons of the restaurant gave a sigh of relief. Another time I was substitute teaching in a school. One of the students burnt her leg while ironing clothes earlier that day. I told the class I was taking the girl outside to help her with her pain. She had been dramatizing loudly so all the students knew it was bad. We went out on the school steps. I gave her an explanation about Touch Assists and did one. After about 5 - 10 minutes commands she jumped up shouting “The pain is gone!” She ran back in the course room loudly proclaiming to the anxiously awaiting students “the teacher touched me and the pain blew!” I never had a discipline problem in that classroom again! One time there were two teenager boys fighting. I got them apart and told them about the 3rd Party Law, as contained in the How to Resolve Conflicts booklet. We did the investigation called for in the booklet and they found the 3rd party responsible for instigating the trouble between them. They restored the friendship they had and later started applying the technology found in The Scientology Handbook to make the world a better place. Then there is the time I called a lady on a business matter. She couldn’t talk to me. She was waiting for an ambulance after calling 911. When I called she was mid an asthma attack. So I briefly explained to her about suppression and how it effects one’s health and emotion. I did the best I could under the circumstances. I used the data from the Cause of Suppression booklet and found the correct source of suppression, we worked out a handling and when the ambulance arrived she was checked out as now being fine. Later she thanked me and asked if I was a Scientologist. I said “yes, why?” She said she thought so because she had heard Scientologists know how to produce miracles and handle suppression. Recently I did assists on my father after his surgery. He was in great pain. After the assists he was relieved, thanking me and saying, “Honey, you have the POWER!” “Yes” I said. “It is Scientology Assists”. The nurse saw me giving him assists. She wanted to learn them now. I gave her the assist booklet and now she is using it on her patients. Another nurse in the little clinic had a bad headache one day when I was there. I asked to see her privately for a moment. She was clammy and complaining of loss of vision due to the pain. I gave her an assist, and the headache went away. Then I gave her a booklet. On it goes. Doing assists at the scene of an accident, doing assists on animals, helping my friends apply ethics to their lives, applying it in my own life, salvaging marriages, raising the tone level of those around to name just a few. This is the hat of a Volunteer Minister. I am proud to be one!
Recently I used the Answers to Drugs booklet in which a woman reached to help her friend who is using alcohol and marijuana. She was especially interested in the drug bomb to get him off drugs. I found this fascinating as she didn’t know what to do but with this technology available she is willing to take on the responsibility of getting her friend off drugs. I also used the Ethics and the Conditions booklet with a man who was having difficulty in his business. He was uninterested in work and didn’t have the desire to continue. He was able to spot some of his workers were not applying the conditions and therefore the business wasn’t getting off the ground. He also realized he himself wasn’t applying these. I also applied the Answers to Drugs booklet and he is currently taking the drug bomb to get off caffeine and is doing well or that. I also used the technology in The Cause of Suppression booklet and he was able to spot some suppression which also had a connection with his business. We have rekindled his purpose and he is gung-ho in his business with his morale up. He also decided to do The Scientology Handbook course to learn the technology himself. I could really go on and on with the many applications of the handbook. Personally, I used the Tools of the Workplace and for the first time wrote a correct program and was able to get my own business off to a good start, completed two programs and am on my third program! These booklets are very valuable and I’m happy I have the opportunity to use them for myself and with others.
SOMETHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT A few days ago I was in my van and came across a woman lying in the street with several security guards standing by to ensure traffic went around her. I pulled over and went over to the woman. She was totally unconscious and a medical doctor had just gotten there. He checked her pulse and said that she had a good pulse and then checked her eyes and said that she was having a seizure. I thought perhaps he would check her further or give her some sort of first aide but he didn’t. He knelt over her and tried to talk to her and asked her questions to which she of course gave no answer. I was surprised by this and realized that he really didn’t have any idea what to do next. At that point I gave her the command, “Lie that body on that pavement” and acknowledged her. I did this a few times and then started doing the unconscious person assist. The doctor looked perplexed. After about a minute the doctor said, “I don’t think that is going to do any good”. I continued the assist and about 5 seconds later the woman opened her eyes and sat up. We assisted her to get out of the street and sit down. I started a touch assist on her. She had her arm in a sling due to having a fractured collar bone. She started to get more in communication with the environment and started to confront the injured collar bone. She began to turn on pain on this. Paramedics arrived about 20 minutes after I had arrived and they also didn’t quite know what to do. They tried to communicate with the woman but were not very effective and I had to act as a sort of translator as I listened to the woman and told the paramedics what she was trying to say. At the end the woman was more aware and was taken to the hospital to get fully checked out.
I got a call from a friend who told me that her 6 year old daughter had been run over by a car and was at the pediatric trauma unit. When I arrived at the CCU Unit they were only admitting immediate family into the locked ward. I introduced myself as a Volunteer Minister and was there at the request of the family to do an assist. The head nurse listened attentively as I explained the actual process and what it did and she brightened up. Then I walked into the room and started the assist. The child was hooked up to several monitors. She was kept unconscious by IV medication because the injuries were extensive and she was extremely traumatized. As I was running the assist, I noticed the monitors climbing (ie) pulse 91, 92, 93, up to 97 rapidly then a couple of times through it started down slowly and stabilized at 91. I ended off as I believed this to be a good point. The nurse seemed pleased too. The young girl was moved from CCU and is in fact, stable now. The parents and nurse present were blown away entirely. The next day they took all the tubes out of the daughter and took her off the machines. She is in stable condition and getting better.
ASSIST SUCCESS I got a phone call from a friend in Northern California who heard I was a Volunteer Minister. He had a brother who lives here in LA and is dying from a blood disease, Hemolytic Anemia. The patient has pretty much tried everything medical and is, now willing to try Scientology Assists. The man is a professional, has been happily married 45 years, has a lovely home and family including grandchildren. He is 6’5’ and is down to 155 pounds. He is making no future plans, pretty much spends his life on the couch, a nurse is with him at all times, he needs help walking to and from the bathroom. He has a complete blood transfusion every Monday, after which he has “some energy”, then less energy by the day and waits for Monday again to get another transfusion. It was a grim picture when I first went there on April 9. His wife would easily go into tears when he wasn’t looking. She commented privately to me, “I hope he makes it through the weekend.” I explained spirit, mind, body to him and how assists work and I told him it might seem silly so just play along. He said, “So you’re going to come over here, and we are going to play games.” I said, “Yes.” He said something like, “I’ve tried everything else, so what the heck.” The second time I went over the wife said that their daughter had called and she cried when she talked to dad because she noticed how positive he sounded for the first time in a long time. This was after one assist! I gave him about 4 assists per week, each time alternating nerve assist and touch assist and each time I would give one other assist out of the big assist handbook. I would just look through the book and pick a different one each time. One that stands out the most is “Hello and Okay” which was one of the earlier ones we ran. I decided to have him say hello to his bone marrow, because that is the body part that is responsible for all this. The bone marrow isn’t doing it’s job. He played along but I think he felt really silly saying hello to his bone marrow because he has brought this up so many times since then. Every now and then he tells me, “I just keep saying hello to my bone marrow. In retrospect, this may have been a major factor in his recovery.” The gains were very gradual. At first he wouldn’t recognize or tell me if he had a cognition. I had to be very astute and alert, and I’m sure I missed a lot, but nevertheless the technology works however crudely delivered. I kept the sessions to about 1/2 hour each. He gradually began telling me things he would realize, the general theme being that he realized more and more that a positive attitude was the correct way to be. I remember during one assist early on, he was having difficulty following the commands which required him to “be himself” and then “be the disease” so I told him to just think of himself as a “thought unit”. That seemed to satisfy him and he did better on these kinds of assists after that. As the days and weeks went by, I noticed the wife’s tone level staying up, they began going out to dinner. The first big breakthrough I noticed was when I got over there one Friday and he wasn’t on the couch. He was walking around talking on the phone making some sort of business plans. His wife was happily amazed, not quite sure what to make of it. She mentioned being afraid to get her hopes up but happy to see what she sees. When we started our assists that day, he said he didn’t understand why, here it is Friday and he still has energy! He said the doctor didn’t understand it either. Then he said, “I don’t know if it has anything to do with what YOU’RE doing” I jokingly said, “Oh, it probably doesn’t.” And he said, “Probably not.” I then asked him what the criteria was for the transfusion on Monday. I wondered if they just do it automatically, he said no, they always check the blood count, but up to now he always needed it. So Monday came, and no blood transfusion was needed. Doctor has no explanation, no one has any explanation. Everyone afraid to get their hopes up. I told the wife, this is what I fully expected. I would have been disappointed if it had gone any other way. She seemed happily surprised by my confidence. He says, “if it goes another week then it’s a miracle”. I teased him, “So it takes two weeks to make a miracle!” I was there the following Sunday, it had been 13 days since his last transfusion and that morning he had gone to Home Depot and pushed the shopping cart around the store. I teased him about there being no miracle yet. On Monday night there’s a message on my answering machine from his wife: “His blood count was 12.7 today. So we have....a bonafide...Miracle!” You can imagine that made my day. I’ll update this story as it unfolds further but I couldn’t wait any longer to share this! ANYONE can do this, no matter what their training. Just learn how and get started! A.W.
A Danish friend had experienced a very difficult time at the birth of her first child and her doctor had advised against having more children. But she and her husband really wanted to have another baby. She had had two miscarriages, and had undergone a surgical procedure to help her carry her baby to full term. She got pregnant again, but was very worried that she would miscarry. One day while I was visiting her home, the familiar symptoms of another miscarriage began and she was in tears of despair. With her agreement I immediately gave her an assist. After only about ten minutes of the assist, her face flushed and she exclaimed that it felt as of a huge weight had suddenly left her body. The pain and bleeding stopped and she started to laugh with relief. She had no more trouble with the pregnancy and a few months later gave birth to a healthy baby girl without any unusual medical assistance, to the complete surprise of the doctor. C.G.
