An assist being given in Nias, Indonesia by Scientology Volunteer Minister, Charlotte

In Sri Lanka, Buddhist monks were taught how to assist the traumatized by Scientology VMs and immediately started helping people

In India, Scientology Volunteer Ministers traveled to villages to help the survivors of the tsunami
Since December 2004 a total of over 450 Scientology Volunteer Ministers (VMs) traveled to the Asian disaster sites with still more making their way there. The job is not done.

The teams of Scientology VMs are staying. They continue their work to help the survivors back on their feet in the areas most affected, where the devastation was immeasurable. From the heads of the VM teams in India, Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, the message is the same, “At this time we are calling for more VMs, there is still a lot of work to be done, more people who need aid. We are not leaving while there are still people to help.”

These Volunteer Minister teams flew in from all points of the globe: Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, France, Germany, the U.S., Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Latin America and South Africa.

Equipped with organizational skills and spiritual techniques of Scientology assists, Scientology VMs went into the hospitals and gave assists to alleviate the present time discomforts of the patients. The VMs found that the key factor is being able to heal their spiritual wounds, to quell the force of the horrific experience these survivors lived through and bring them hope. This is what helped these people to recover.

Over 11,300 people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds have now been taught the simple and effective assist procedures so that they can deliver these same benefits to others: Buddhist monks from the Dalai Lama’s monasteries were taught these procedures and spent weeks at the disaster site in India helping the countless local people still in need; Muslim Imams in Banda Aceh were shown how to perform assists and now instruct others in these simple techniques and Red Cross personnel asked to be trained on assist techniques, as did an array of military, air force, police, engineers, medical practitioners, psychologists and government personnel. All have been taught how to administer assists. These people state that they have experienced immense personal satisfaction from really helping others and seeing the results with their own eyes.

Volunteer Ministers are now providing Dianetics seminars, which train people to administer Dianetics techniques that alleviate trauma.

This hands-on help and training given by Scientology Volunteer Ministers has brought hope to the people of these lands.

1. Assists are techniques developed by L. Ron Hubbard. They operate on the principle that one tends to withdraw mentally or spiritually from an injured area. Only by restoring communication with this area can one bring the spiritual element into healing, thereby greatly speeding the healing process. Assists are used to alleviate stress and physical aches and pains, or to orient a confused or distraught individual to his present environment.
