Thousands receive help from Volunteer Ministers every week. Here’s what some who have been helped have to say: “Life with my three kids was a living hell. What happened? Those beautiful babies and cute kids were now out of control monsters. I wondered how it got so bad. I blamed myself. A good friend of mine saw me ‘drowning’ and threw me a lifesaver. It was the phone number of a Volunteer Minister. I called her up. She understood what I was going through and calmly and smoothly helped me put order into my life and got my children taking responsibility for the situation. It wasn’t me against them anymore. We became a team—a family. I recovered three ‘best friends’ and made another one—a wonderful and caring Volunteer Minister. Thanks for all the love and help!” S.C. “I had lost the will to go on. Life had dealt me too may blows and I settled into a very deep depression. At first, I masked my pain and carried on, going through the motions. But after a while it was unbearable. I began having strange thoughts and doing things I’d never done before. I was scared. I was losing it. I saw a little ad in the newspaper. Someone offered help. So I called. I must have sounded like a lunatic at first, but the person just listened. It was a Volunteer Minister. Well, just talking about my problems made me feel a whole lot better. Enough to agree to get more help from this guy on the phone. But I didn’t know what to expect. Who was this guy? What did he ‘want’ out of the deal? I found out that all he wanted was to help. And he sure had answers. With his help, I came out of my tailspin and I’ve got a whole new outlook on life. I don’t know what I would have done if I’d gone on the way I was going. Who wants to think about that kind of thing? I’m living for today and creating a new future.” G.M. “I took a nasty fall a while back and though I recovered physically, I was noticeably not the same as I had been before. It bothered me. How could something that happened a while ago still affect me? My Chiropractor gave me the card of a Volunteer Minister and said he could do something for me. I was definitely interested in something that could help. Nothing I’d found so far had done a thing. To make a not-so-long story shorter, in a couple of hours the Volunteer Minister helped me handle the spiritual ramifications of my fall. I am now back to the way I was before the accident.
